Many people have a tendency to forget things, though that is a general thing, which can be attributed to every individual. It is a big no-no to not pay attention to your spouse’s needs when it comes to simple stuff, like doing laundry, or buying milk on your way home from work. The worst thing you could do, however, is forgetting things that are really important to your spouse like birthdays and anniversaries. If you promise to do something, keep a note or take advantage of technology and put a reminder on your phone.
Research shows that this is a common trait amongst men, and that it is due to the differences in the physiological makings of the male and female brain.
Inviting over friends/family without prior notice
Who doesn’t get annoyed when the doorbell rings and you are surprised with the unexpected family or friends gathering at your house. We all know that the wifey needs time, a lot of time, to prep herself as well as the home, whether its to cook a nice family meal or to clean up and organize around the house. Sometimes, your spouse is just exhausted from a long day at work and wants to sit home and relax, without having to entertain guests. This impromptu visit is really frustrating and will most definitely earn you the silent treatment after your guests leave.
Bring their office work home
Office work is called that because it needs to be kept in the office. Unless it is an absolute emergency, there is no reason to bring your work home with you on a regular basis. Just like you had a rough day at the office, your spouse also might have had their emotional rollercoaster and wants to just unwind with their better half. Just like you are requested to leave your personal life separate from your professional life in the office, you should also reciprocate that mentality in your home and leave that unwanted stress where it belongs. When you are at home, try and spend some quality time with your spouse, whether it’s to rehash the exciting and eventful day you and your spouse had or just to lounge around and watch a movie together.
Finding the right balance of professional and personal life is essential for happiness and sanity of your household.
